Dua for Fasting in Ramadan:

According to the scholars, there is no specific dua to be said before each and every fast. Rather, the intention of fasting made before beginning the fast is sufficient. However, there is a Masnoon dua that is recited at the time of seeing the new moon of Ramadan. According to authentic hadith, Prophet SAW used to say the following words on sighting the new moon.

اللَّهمَّ أَهلَّهُ علينَا بالأمنِ والإيمانِ والسَّلامةِ والإسلامِ ربِّي وربُّكَ اللَّهُ

Allahumma ahillahu ‘alayna bi’l-yumni wa’l-iman wa’l-salamah wa’l-islam. Rabbiy wa rabbuka Allah.

(O Allah, make the new moon rise on us with blessing, faith, safety and Islam. My Lord and Your Lord is Allah). [Sahih al-Tirmidhi 2745]

Dua for Opening Fast:

The most common question is about the dua for breaking fast in Ramadan.

اللَّهُمَّ اِنِّى لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ امنْتُ وَعَليْكَ تَوَكّلتُ وَ عَلى رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ

Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa alayka tawakkaltu wa ala rizq-ika-aftartu

O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You and I put my trust in You and I break my fast with Your sustenance.

It is narrated from Prophet SAW that he used to say the following dua at the time of Iftar.

ذهب الظمأ وابتلت العروق وثبت الأجر إن شاء الله

“Dhahaba al-zamau wabtalat-al-urooq wa thabata-al-ajar in sha Allah.

(Thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is certain if Allah wills).” [Abu Dawud]

Iftar is the time of making a lot of dua as the supplication made at this time is guaranteed to be answered. The following hadith explains this in detail:

“There are three whose supplication is not rejected: a just ruler, the fasting person when he breaks his fast, and the prayer of one who has been wronged…” [Tirmidhi 2526]

Fajr salah is 20 min After sehri ends whole Ramadan!

“When My servants ask you about Me, then (tell them that) I am near. I respond to the call of one when he prays to Me; so they should respond to Me, and have faith in Me, so that they may be on the right path.” [al-Baqarah 2:186]
